Thanks to everyone who helped make 2006 the amazing year it was.
2007 is coming on quick, in fact it’s already here for some folks. Let’s make it even better - more productive, more exciting…
let’s push the limits.
see you in the new year,
Chris

Took too long to write this darn thing….

I’m exhausted now. I’m going to bed.
My new meme… keeping the holiday materialistic.
Actually I’m just curious, and what better way to do it than to start a new meme? Plus, I’m curious to see how far we can get it. SO PASS IT ON OR YOU WILL DIE AT 4:23 TOMORROW MORNING!!!$141!
The meme:
What is your favorite Christmas gift this year?
Simple, huh?
for me: I got a CD called “All Points Bulletin” by the band Dispatch. Not only is it amazing music, but they have a great message: people before profit! They became immensely successful through distribution in Napster (yeah, the illegal one), giving away music on their website, sanctioning tabs, and being thoroughly talented. They aren’t under a major label (though Universal Records does distribute them) and are using their success to promote ventures such as the Elias Fund.
I am tagging Peter Upfold, Huw Leslie, and Jacob Peddicord (if he still has a blog!) with this.
Creative doesn’t release drivers for their MP3 players for OS X users. For folks like me who don’t want to spend on an iPod, this is a shame. Three people in my family have Creative Players (between us there is a Zen Micro, Zen Microphoto, and Zen Nano) and now that I’m on the Mac platform transferring music becomes a pain. My nano doubles as a USB thumbdrive, so I have no problems plugging it in and using it that way, however with the other two players I had to find another solution.
Fortunately there is a very robust solution in XNJB, a free/open source application that allows Mac users to connect to Creative players. It’s relatively fast, easy to understand, and it worked flawlessly.
Of course, I had to set iTunes to store and rip tracks in MP3 format (as opposed to the Apple favoured AAC) but this is easy enough, it’s in the Importing tab of the Advanced panel in your iTunes preferences.
Go forth Creative owners, and play music!

It’s a work in progress. But that’s it… remember, you can sign up for the beta at http://livelocity.com/ and we’ll notify you when we’re ready for you.
Merry Christmas all, have a very good holiday.
Drive safe, be safe, be careful, all the rest.
Enjoy.

Rapid application development is “teh sux0r”.
We’re developing Livelocity in, literally, less than two months. For an ecommerce media app (on a shared server no less) that seems absolutely absurd (and we’re all extremely time limited) but we’re really pushing ourselves (well, Jacob and Peter would say that I’m pushing them… but I digress).
We have the next week (except Christmas of course) to focus entirely on Livelocity development. It’s going to be pretty intense, and I don’t want anyone to break down. Fortunately it’s only a week… any longer of this intense programming and we’d all go insane!
Seriously though I don’t doubt that I’ll be putting in 13 hour days on the computer in a combination of Livelocity (and finishing off some simple client work). We have a lot that needs to be done, because we have a stiff market to infiltrate. And we need to do it quickly.
So readers, have you had similar experience with rapid application development?
Also, do you know a musician who might be interested in selling his/her (or their, in the case of a band) tunes on Livelocity? Drop me a line, chris }-at-{ comitar }-dot-{ com
Oh, and in case I don’t update soon… have a happy holiday. Whatever it may be.
