Amanda Congdon is doing a new side project with PopURLs. PopURLs is an aggregator of links from the biggest sites like Digg, Newsvine, YouTube, Flickr, and all the rest. She’ll pick a few of her favorites (weekly, I believe) and post them for community consumption.
Scoble seems to think though that this isn’t the smartest idea, for her, or for PopURLs. Personally I disagree, but I’m not as experienced as Scoble so I’m likely wrong. His argument is that she needs to be focusing on more video projects. He says that since she’s been focused on video for the past year, it only makes sense for her to continue to help maintain her image as a video star.
To me the web is about opportunity. If Amanda thinks that this PopURLs project is something that will help her and her audience (see, web 2.0 helps everyone!) then by all means go for it. Old media confined people, new media encourages open borders.
yeah.
