Redesign (kinda) •  Sunday, July 30, 2006

I’m gonna work on a redesign of this site. It really sucks now for validation and stuff.

In the meantime, good bye sidebar.

Printable CEO •  Tuesday, July 25, 2006

I’m trying to get a bit more productive, so I’m trying out David Seah’s Printable CEO.

The idea seems relatively easy, figure out the value of your work (erm… “when is something worth doing” is how he puts it) and then categorize like that. The system works on points - you categorize your work based on a 10, 5, 2, and 1 point list and then set a goal as to how many points you’re going to finish off every day. I’m aiming for 4 (but my work needs are a bit different… I’m a student on summer vacation!)

If you aren’t really sure what you want to do (often my problem!) you can use the Emergent Task Timer. There are printable forms that you can use egg timers with, or several online apps with timers built in. These use 15 minute intervals in which you just do something, anything. Then you simply tick what you’ve done based on a number of categories so you can figure out where your time has gone and where you want it to go.

Really there is a lot to Printable CEO. Lots of forms, websites, timers… a lot. But I can see that there is something easy in it - it’s just… well… a bit difficult to take at face value - mainly because no concise explanation of the system exists. I’m doing my best to figure it out… but I think that this system, or what I know of it so far, makes the most sense for me.

w00t for productivity.
